Any data automatically collected from our site visitors (domain name, browser types, etc.) are used only in aggregate, to help us better meet site visitors' needs. There is no identification of individuals from our aggregate data. Therefore, unless you choose otherwise, you are totally anonymous when visiting our site. We do not share data with anyone for commercial purposes. If you choose (consent) to submit personally identifiable information to us electronically via registration forms, email, chat rooms, online surveys, etc., we will treat it with the same respect for privacy afforded to mailed submissions. Submission of such information is always optional.
We work hard to maintain the ITSqc Web site privacy policy outlined above and to guard against problems that might compromise it. Please be aware, however, that other sites reachable through our web site may not adhere to the same policy.
Your Privacy Rights as a Course Participant in ITSqc Training Courses
Course participant records created at the ITSqc in connection with ITSqc training courses are strictly confidential and their protection is mandated under federal legislation known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
FERPA applies to all institutions that are the recipients of federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education, which includes Carnegie Mellon University. Since the ITSqc is operated and administered by Carnegie Mellon, the ITSqc is also subject to this regulatory program.
Under FERPA, you have the right to:
- inspect and review your course records
- request an amendment to your records if you believe that they are inaccurate or misleading
- request a hearing if your request for an amendment is not resolved to your satisfaction
- consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information from your records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without your consent
- file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Family Policy Compliance Office if you believe your rights under FERPA have been violated
